Dress Up Time!

This weeks design team assignment over at "The Cutting Café" was to use one of the adorable purse files they offer, perfect for all those girly girls out there!

I chose to use the Purse Shaped Card and Treat Box file, http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/07/purse-shaped-card-and-treat-box-set-template-cutting-file.html on a layout of my daughter as a little girl playing dress up!

The great thing about scrapbooking is the memories it brings back when we study old photos and think of stories associated with them and as always it seems like yesterday.

Stop on over and view the many great creative files at The Cutting Café and if you haven't tried one, now is the time!

The Thief

This weeks design team assignment over at the "Cutting Café" included using this adorable Vintage boot cutting file. http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/07/vintage-boot-shaped-card-template-cutting-file.html

I cut the boot out of kraft cardstock, sprayed it with water and crumbled it up to give it the look of worn leather.

I used it on a cute little layout of my 3 year old grandson going on the merry go round and taking out a gold token instead of putting one in.  Oh the sweet innocence.  He had a free ride and one to spare!

Have a great week!

My First Christmas!

This weeks assignment over at "The Cutting Café" was a Christmas in July theme and I chose to use this great cutting file:http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2011/12/snow-globe-shaped-cardtemplate-cutting-file.html

Although the file was for a greeting card it had great possibilities to use in a scrapbook layout.  I just started scrapbooking at Christmas time 2011 so I have so many untold stories and photos that I will never be caught up!  Although I always keep current with the year I am in.  It is fun to go back in time and look at the old photos and the memories they evoke.

I used a clear transparency for the snow globe overlay cut and put my photo behind it with some confetti so it give a fairly realistic look of a snow
globe!

Hope you enjoy and have a great week!

The Nail Salon is not just for Girls!

This weeks assignment over at the Cutting Café was to use one of the adorable nail polish cutting files.  One was a great file to make a wonderful giftable box to hold a nail polish and the other was the cutest invitation for a spa party!

I love using these wonderful files for layouts and I was trying to think how I could use the file when I remembered I had this cute photo of my Grandson sitting in a child pedicure chair this spring.  So, hence the layout began using the invite file: http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/06/nail-polish-shaped-card-invite-set-template-cutting-file.html

I kept the layout simple and used one photo with some journaling.

Stop on over and take a look at all the wonderful files Regina offers!  All of the files are an incredible value!

I chose to make the bag for an all occasion using the "Just for You" word trim along with the fringe file.   This bag is so easy to put together!  You will never want to purchase another bag again and the recipient will may just enjoy the bag as much as the gift!

Strawberry Cake Yum!

I have a ritual of having family Sunday dinners and this week I was hungry for lasagna and a strawberry cake.  It just so happens that the Cutting Cafe's design team assignment included an adorable strawberry card file so what better way to use it than on a layout with the strawberry cake recipe.  I am always looking for my favorite recipes and I think I should start to put them in a recipe scrapbook.

Here is the adorable file I used. http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2010/04/strawberry-shaped-cardtemplate-cutting-file.html

Father's Day Card

This weeks design team assignment over at "The Cutting Café" included a number of adorable files to use for Father's Day.  I chose to use this adorable shirt and tie file.  http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2009/06/shirt-and-tie-cutting-file-template-shaped-cards.html

I used the tie card that was included in this file and cut it in half so it would lay flat on my card base.  So simple to glue the three little pieces together and adhere to your card front, add a banner with a sentiment and some twine at the top of the card and you are finished!

Wishing all the wonderful Father's out there a blessed and grateful day!

Baby Shower 1986

Hello there!
This weeks assignment for the design team over at "The Cutting Café" was to use either the baby bottle or diaper shaped card set.  Since I don't have any baby showers coming up or new arrivals I decided to go back in time and scrapbook the baby shower that was given for me when I was pregnant with my now 26 year old daughter!

The great thing about scrapbooking older photos is the memories become fresh when we start to think about the events and the people in the photos.  When we scrapbook a memory we are honoring that memory and making it more special to us!

Here is the file I used: http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/05/diaper-shaped-card-invite-set-template-cutting-file.html  I love using these files on my layouts.  I used the invite and use the opening in the top to slip one of my photos and also the receipt I still had from my pregnancy test!

Check out the baby bottle file as well!  It is super cute!

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

The Cutting Café has such versatile files.  This darling viewmaster file comes with files to make a card also and wonderful printable word files in addition to an envelope, check it out!

We always need to believe in Sesame Street!

This weeks design team assignment was to use this adorable file, Keep Calm Word shaped file with matching sentiments, this file is for use as a card but makes a great title for a scrapbook page as I have chosen to use here.

http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/04/keep-calm-andword-shaped-card-template-cutting-file.html

My grandson was so excited to visit with his Sesame Street friends the Keep Calm file seemed the perfect fit.

I used modeling paste and a stencil on this layout and was so pleased with the result, give it a try it is so easy to use.

Have a great week and make sure to get your hug from Cookie Monster, it makes for a happier world!

We were given a choice of files to use this week for our design team challenge at The Cutting Cafe.
I chose to use the printable stamp file http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/.services/blog/6a010536b71e2d970b010536b71e33970b/search?filter.q=youre+in+my+thoughts

for some of the journaling on this layout of when my grandson was now feeling well and Grandma got to give him a little extra TLC!

The Patio Project!

As we all know some things end up being bigger projects than expected.  We have been putting in a patio at my daughter's house and what should have been a week long project has turned into a month long project.  I won't go into the details of all the set-backs but I knew for sure I needed a mini-book to document this long process so I made a mini book and attached it to a scrapbook layout.

I used a brick embossing folder on the cover of the mini book to give it the look of the pavers.  I then used one of the many wonderful cutting files available from "The Cutting Cafe" to embellish it.  I chose to use the "Garden Stand Ups" file.  There are many more cute components in the file but I chose to use just a few.  Here is the link to the file:http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/02/garden-stand-ups-templates-cutting-files.html

If you are looking for a wonderful selection of cutting files head on over to "The Cutting Cafe"!

Cutting Cafe Beautiful Rose file

This weeks challenge for the design team members was to use the Beautiful Rose file which includes wonderful sentiments and printable stamps of great rose designs in addition to a cut file for the cutest little vase.
http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/04/beautiful-roseprintable-stamp-set.html

I chose to use a few of the printable sentiments, one on the inside of the card and one as a little tag on the outside.  I cut the vase out of white cardstock and used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on it.

I chose to use some little die cut flowers instead of the rose printable on this card since it is going to a young Mother.    Easy file to use and create your own little vase of everlasting flowers!

Have a great week!

Tall Box File

This weeks design team challenge was to use the new "Tall Box" file.  This file has variations with and without windows and could be used for so many different occasions.  Here is the link to the cutting file over at the Cafe! http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/03/tall-box-template-cutting-file.html

I chose to use the one window file and used double sided patterned paper so it showed through the front window.  This box is extremely easy to put together!  I embellished the front of the box with one of the printable sentiments and a few hand made die cut flowers.  This box is going to come in handy for a Mother's day present very soon!

Have a great week!

I used a great new file from the Cutting Cafe, the suitcase mini book file, it can be found here: http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/03/suitcase-mini-book-template-cutting-file.html

This mini book is extremely easy to put together.  I embossed the decorative accent pieces to look like leather trim an tied the top together with some twine, there is also a side tab closure option available.

Happy 3rd Birthday Celebration!

With my Grandson being officially three now I thought it was time to finish up his birthday layouts!  If I don't do it now the time will pass and it won't get done until he is almost 4!

I thought it would be nice to write down some of his milestones in the past year!  How quickly he is changing, it makes me realize how quickly time passes!

I use two files from the Cutting Cafe to create this layout.  The first is the tall cake shaped card http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/03/tall-cake-shaped-card-template-cutting-file.html.  I didn't use the card feature on this but used the layered pieces to create this tall birthday cake to layer on top of the string and button envelope file http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/.services/blog/6a010536b71e2d970b010536b71e33970b/search?filter.q=string+envelope.  This envelope was the perfect size to hold the journal card with the milestones typed on.

I also used a few of the tall cake file pieces as extra embellishment on this layout.

There are so many ways you can use the Cafe files.  Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box!  Have a great week!

Rides, Rides and More Rides

This layout is in honor of the start of my grandson's third birthday!  To be three an find the joy in the simplest things is a lesson for us all.

A trip to the zoo started out his birthday celebration an as you can see he love each ride.  He is small for his age so he finally reached 36" and was able to ride the junior roller coaster!  He has been told over and over he was too short to get on even the kiddie rides so he was super excited.

This week I use the Cutting Cafe's file Camera shaped photo holder http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2010/11/camera-photo-shaped-holder-templatecutting-file.html
I sewed it on the page and was able to add additional photos in the pocket it created.  I just love the Cutting Cafe's files and I love using them on my layouts!

Stop on over at the Cutting Cafe blog and see all the creative ways the design team has used the camera and Polaroid files this week.

Have a great one!

Getting Easter Ready!

This weeks design team project included a variety of cutting files to choose from, one of them being this adorable dress form that can be cut as a card and has two sizes included along with 12 sentiments. http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/04/fun-with-dress-formstemplate-cutting-file-printable-set.html  Just such a lovely file.

I decided to make the smaller size even smaller so it could be used as a pin on my easter sweater.
I used distress paints and ultra think embossing powder on the top layer of the dress form and then cracked it to give it a vintage look, add a little ribbon an little rolled paper flower and glue a pin back on and you are all set to go with a custom Easter pin!

Have a great week!

Feeling Lucky!

Think Green and Lucky for the month of March!

This weeks design team challenge at The Cutting Cafe was to use one of the many cute St. Patrick's Day printable stamps or cutting files!

I created this cute little Lucky card to send to a special friend since we all need to be feel appreciated and we can all use a little LUCK!

The file used to create this card was the Lucky Word Shaped Template Card http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/.services/blog/6a010536b71e2d970b010536b71e33970b/search?filter.q=lucky+card.

I embossed the Lucky word, added a little twine and a sentiment and the card came together quickly, send a little luck and friendship out via snail mail, it is sure to bring a smile to someone dear to you!

Have a great week!

Easter Coasters

Hello again!  This week has been hectic and filled with unexpected challenges so I am a little late with this post!

For this weeks design challenge at "The Cutting Cafe" we were to use the "Little Red Wagon" file http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/.services/blog/6a010536b71e2d970b010536b71e33970b/search?filter.q=little+red+wagon or the Easter Fun printable file http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/02/easter-fun-printable-set.html which I chose to use.

I decided to use the printable files to make a set of Easter coasters.  I think they turned out rather cute and would make a great little gift.  The were very easy to make.  I die cut 1/4 cork and then die cut the printable files in a circle (I added a little distress ink around the edge prior to mounting on the cork).   I then used the same die as the cork to cut a plastic overlay to put over the printable file.  I ran both the circles from the printable files and the plastic overlay through my large Xyron machine so putting them together was a snap!

Have a great week and enjoy some creative time!

Postage Stamp Shape Card

This week I created a cute little card using the postage stamp shaped card file from The Cutting Cafe. http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2013/01/postage-stamp-shaped-card-template-cutting-file.html

I used a little Polaroid die cut on the front and used the little stamp that comes with the file to embellish the card along with some washi tape and stamping.

Easy-peasy!  Give this cute little card a file if you have an electronic cutting file you will love the Cutting Cafe's files.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Time to get the Valentine's Day cards done and in the mail!  How fast time passes, seems like we just celebrated New Year's Day!

I love Valentine's Day and sending cards to those I care for!  This year I created my cards from one of the printable stamp files from the Cutting Cafe.  The file I used is the animal and bug love printable set, http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2011/01/animal-and-bug-loveprintable-stamp-set.html, these printable stamp files are a cinch to use and give such a professional finished product,  if you haven't ever tried using the printable stamps it is time to do so!

The Cutting Cafe has a wonderful variety of these printable files available for instant download.

Hope this Valentine's Day brings you love and happiness and hopefully some chocolate or flowers as well!

Have a great week!

Let's Plant a Garden

It is gardening time again and that thought made me want to grab some photos from last year and create a scrapbook page.

I used the Seed Packet file from "The Cutting Cafe", this file features a wonderful cut file for a seed packet and also two great printing files, mini words and tags and great little sentiments!  http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/05/seed-packet-holdertemplate-cutting-file.html

I used a Tim Holtz tattered flower garland die to make the little 3D flowers.

I am anxious to see how big our sunflowers get this year.  Thank you for visiting and don't forget to stop by "The Cutting Cafe" for more great files!

King of Everything!

I enjoy being a part of the design team for the Cutting Cafe.  What a group of talented ladies and Regina the owner is beyond talented!

One of this weeks challenges was to use the Crown cutting file. http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2010/05/assorted-crown-templates-cutting-files.html
I couldn't resist making this home dec project in honor of my adorable almost 3 year old grandson!

I just love the Silhouette double sided adhesive paper which makes for a seamless way of putting the glitter on the page (used for the crown)!

Happy Birthday Daughter!

I have been blessed with the most wonderful daughter a Mother could have for 26 years now!
I am fortunate to live close to her and I don't take that for granted!  It is wonderful to see her often and be able to celebrate the everyday events as well as the special celebrations.

This is her birthday layout!  I love the Heart Lace Shaped Card set from the Cutting Cafe! http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/12/heart-lace-shaped-card-template-cutting-file.html, it cuts out beautifully.  I used the negative area of the cut out hearts to make the gold embossed hearts on this layout.  I used gold Zing embossing powder, I love the matte finish.  The lace heart was cut out of regular white card stock Tim Holtz Distress ink in "Spun Sugar" was blended on.

Check out all the great cutting files at the "Cutting Cafe", you will not be disappointed!  They are a great value!

Love my Brother!

My brother recently visited for a few days and we were able to celebrate New Years Day together!

I sure wish we didn't live at opposite sides of the country!  I miss him more the older I get!

My Grandson just loved his Uncle Bruce, after he left we wanted to know where Uncle Bruce went!

These two layouts are dedicated to my brother!

Hershey Kiss Time!

This past week my beautiful daughter celebrated her 26th birthday, seems like yesterday!

I used the Hershey Kiss shaped card from the Cutting Cafe to make her birthday card.  http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/01/hershey-kiss-shaped-cardtemplate-cutting-file.html.  I added a banner across the front and used the Cutting Cafe printable file of birthday Hershey Kiss bottoms http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/06/birthday-hershey-kiss-bottomsprintable-stamps.html.  The numbers at the top are made out of the Martha Stewart clay.  Just love this stuff!

This card would also be great for Valentine's Day with Valentine Day Hershey Kiss bottoms, http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/.services/blog/6a010536b71e2d970b010536b71e33970b/search?filter.q=Valentines+day+hershey+kiss+bottom.

Early Valentine's Creation

It is always nice to have a fresh start after the holidays and what better way than to start the creative process with one of my favorite Hallmark Holidays "Valentine's Day"

I enjoyed making this card using one of the Cutting Cafe's wonderful printable stamp sets, http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/2012/01/feb-14printable-stamp-set.html
I used the new Martha Stewart clay that drys light as a feather for the heart embellishment, which actually can be used as a pin that can be remove from the card.

I will have a few more Valentine's Day creations posted soon!

Have a great week!
